Bigger Isn't Just Bigger — Why the DrawMax Injector Body Was Designed Larger

At first glance, the DrawMax injector may look only slightly larger than many other custom injectors on the market. That extra size wasn't added for appearance—it was added for a purpose.

One of the biggest differences is the way the high-pressure check valve mounts to the injector.

Most custom injectors require an additional threaded adapter between the injector body and the check valve. The DrawMax injector was intentionally designed with a larger body so a J.E. Adams 5,000 PSI check valve can thread directly into the injector using full 1/4-inch NPT thread engagement.

The result is a cleaner, stronger, and more reliable assembly.

Engineering Advantages

1. One Less Failure Point

Removing the adapter eliminates an entire threaded connection — fewer leaks, fewer loose fittings, fewer installation errors, and fewer replacement parts.

Sometimes improving reliability isn't about adding parts—it's about removing them.

2. Stronger Thread Engagement

The larger injector body allows significantly deeper 1/4-inch NPT threads than many compact injector bodies, delivering increased holding strength, improved resistance to vibration, reduced chance of thread damage, and a larger sealing surface.

This is especially valuable because the check valve may experience thousands of PSI from the pressure washer side.

3. Reduced Bending Stress

Every additional fitting moves the check valve farther away from the injector body, increasing leverage anytime the plumbing is bumped or the hose twists. By mounting the valve directly into the injector, DrawMax shortens that lever arm and reduces stress on both the injector body and the check valve.

4. Better Chemical System Reliability

Every threaded joint is another place where air can enter the system. Even a very small air leak can reduce downstream chemical draw. With one fewer connection, there is simply one less opportunity for that to happen.

5. Less Trapped Chemical

Removing the adapter also removes a small cavity where sodium hypochlorite can remain after use — resulting in quicker rinse-out, less crystal buildup, and easier maintenance.

6. Cleaner Installation and Easier Service

Fewer parts make installation faster and reduce the chance of assembly mistakes. If the check valve ever needs replacement, there is only one component to remove — no intermediate fitting to loosen, reseal, or replace.

7. Correct Installation by Design

Check valves are directional — they must be installed with flow going the right way to function correctly. Typical female x female check valves can be threaded onto an adapter in either direction, making it possible to install them backwards.

The DrawMax check valve threads directly into the injector body using a male NPT connection. There is only one way it fits. That means it can only be installed correctly — by design, not by chance.

The larger injector body wasn't created to make the injector look different. It was engineered to solve several small problems with one simple design change.
